An important part of living in the community as an adult is learning what your community has to offer. Participating in community activities, going to museums, the library or other organizations can make life more interesting and fun. There are many choices on how to spend your time in the city or town where you live. 

As you begin helping your young adult plan for their life in the community, have them think about what they enjoy doing now. What is their idea of a good life? What is important to them? As their family or friends, it is important to support and help them reach for their dreams.

Important things to consider are:

• What are their interests?
• How will they get around their community?
• What type of support will they need out in the community?
